Who Needs an ETA?
If you're a citizen of a country that previously did not require a visa to enter the UK, you may now need an ETA. The rollout is happening in phases:
- From November 15, 2023: Qatari nationals are required to have an ETA.
- From February 22, 2024: Citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates must obtain an ETA.
- From January 8, 2025: Travelers from 49 non-European countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and Japan, will need an ETA.
- From April 2, 2025: Citizens of 34 European countries, such as France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, will also be required to have an ETA.
Applications for the ETA open several weeks before these dates, so it's advisable to apply in advance of your planned travel.

- You're legally residing in Ireland and entering the UK from within the Common Travel Area (Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man).
